The facility houses digital, multi-channel broadcast systems with advanced tapeless
editing and production technology islands. CBT Systems had supported this project since
the early 1990's with schematic design, architectural, acoustical, electrical,
and mechanical specifications, as well as construction coordination.
July 1997, CBT Systems began the technical system conceptual design process
that included full scale mock-ups of all operational areas, and detailed systems
engineering. March 1998, the integration of system elements began with
CBT Systems working towards a full facility implementation by late 1998, and "on-air" operations in early 1999.
The heart of KCET's new facility is not its new digital router, file severs or automation systems,
but rather the building itself. One of the most important aspects of a new or renovated building
is the facility's infrastructure. Architectural, acoustical, mechanical, and electrical elements
form the solid core from which the technical systems function and personnel operate.
